R&D International Foundation
Encouraging and supporting entrepreneurship in Tasikmalaya through the
R&D International Business School
About
The R&D International Foundation is committed to the establishment and management of an International Business School in Tasikmalaya, South West Java, Indonesia. As such, it wants to give young, promising students, mainly at the local Siliwangi University, the opportunity to stimulate and further develop their entrepreneurial spirit in order to contribute to the economic revival of the region. The focus will also be on the basic principles of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and direct student involvement in actual CSR activities.
The International Business School aims to promote the participation of as many local people as possible in the future advanced agricultural, industrial and infrastructure development of Tasikmalaya and South Java. This prevents better educated people from other parts of Indonesia and the world from occupying workplaces that could be filled by local people. Tasikmalaya belongs to the least privileged regions in Indonesia with a high percentage of unemployment, a high percentage of malnourished children and a high percentage of radicalising believers.
The R&D International Foundation builds on the long-standing work of its founders to promote education and health care, especially for children, in Tasikmalaya.
Background
Mr. and Mrs. Praaning Prawira Adiningrat have no children. For years they have taken responsibility for hundreds of children and dozens of schools, especially in Indonesia/Tasikmalaya, through the Tasik Children Foundation, among others. The structure of the work for society in Tasikmalaya reflects the life of a growing child from an underprivileged family. OTIFA, the Outreach Therapeutic Infant Food Agency, located in the office of one of Mr. Praaning Prawira Adiningrat's companies, provides life-saving and enhancing therapeutic nutrition (Plumpy'nut and MixMe) through 200 students to hundreds of families. The Foundation works closely with the Edgar Brood Academic Chair Foundation (EBAC), established by the Brood-Grapperhaus family in honor of their late father/husband. EBAC operates a Chair of English at Siliwangi University; the Lecturer will also be responsible for the management of the International Business School. Mr. and Mrs. Praaning Prawira Adiningrat also initiated the 'Firmanzah Project', named after the late Rector of Paramadina University in Jakarta, which combines the collection and reuse of plastic waste in some poor districts of Jakarta (Pancoran and Mampang) with the innovative but accessible 3D Printing; low-skilled or unskilled district residents who group themselves in a Cooperative are thereby enabled to follow training at the University, to develop products that can be 3D printed and then sold through sophisticated marketing; the income goes entirely to the Cooperative.
